Mama was a rollin' stone

So, I have managed to survive a 33 hour trip on a train with two children. Let me start by saying that I love the train itself. The rocking is very soothing (most of the time) and the whole experience is really cool.

We left our house Friday morning at about 2:30, the train was supposed to leave at 4:30. We parked and immediately got stuck in a pile of mud-snow. The pants I was wearing for the whole trip got a good splash of mud and Jesse really worked his muscles jacking up the car and putting boards under the tires. Finally, I nice man with a snow plow pulled us out. It was now 5:30, but not to worry dear friends, the train was late and wasn't expected until about 7. What luck! Well, not lucky for the transient that got hit and caused the delay, but it worked out for our stuck car.

So we went and got breakfast and got on the train and got out of town at 7:30. The first day went well. The baby loved sleeping on the train and Henry took a good nap too. The highlight was trying to use a bathroom the size of a soda can while holding the baby at the same time. Peeing on a train is hard enough, then add in doing it all one handed and you're in for a rocking good time.

We were scheduled to arrive in Mt. Pleasant Iowa at noon on Saturday, but after the original delay we got caught up in freight traffic and got there at 5:30 in an ice storm. FUN!

I wish I could have put up the cute pictures of the boys on the train, but I didn't bring the cable to my brand new pink camera! I'll put them up as soon as I can.

Handsome

I can't believe I made such beautiful babies!

We went and got our pictures done at Target two weeks ago and it was a fiasco. I always get stressed so I was not my pleasant self (I still owe Jesse quite a few apologies). Henry goes crazy in front of a camera, so he was spaz-tastic as always. The baby wouldn't stop spitting up on his clothes. I was about ready to cry before we left. Then you get the pictures back and that all goes away. You get to see your two beautiful sons and show them off to the world. Jesse says we're never doing it again, but he's not in charge!

Life

Boy, do I need a camera! Yesterday Freddie turned 6 months old and I couldn't even take a picture. I did film him a little with the camcorder, but it's just not the same. I am taking both boys in for pictures on Friday, so those will have to count as his birthday pics.

So, Freddie at six months. He's a very sweet little boy. His favorite thing is to sit on his momma's lap and watch the world go by. Every few minutes he'll turn his head up to make sure I'm still there and then keep watching. He is still all floppy and wiggly, which I love. We really need to practice more tummy time and get his muscles working, but he just digs his face into the blanket and screams, so I don't really see the purpose of that. Maybe he just has me all wrapped up and knows how to get his way. I love to see his personality develop more each day.

Other than that there's not much going on at the Kremer house. Henry sold me one of his paintings today for $2. I think it was a bargain. If anybody is interested he would love to make you one too. He told me he was gong to sell eggs to the neighbors for $20 each to make some money. I think we're going to sign him up for finance seminars soon.

I'll post pictures as soon as I can!

Cousins

So today I let Henry ditch school and we went to McDonalds with Kate and Andrea. When in the crap did we get all these kids. 3 adults and 7 kids. Just last week we were in the car driving to Vegas without a care in the world. Now we are all parents and worry about who has pooped and where. Crazy. Here is a picture of the two older boys. Henry can get Andrew to do things he wouldn't usually do, like show his chest to the world. And yes, Henry is trying to pull his pants down to show the world some glory. That's my boy.

Where is everybody

So I am a total nerd. I come check out my blog everyday. For the sole purpose of seeing who has written on theirs recently. And you jerks are totally letting me down! Somebody, other than Kate who manages to be responsible with her blog, do something! Chop Chop!

This Week

So we've had an interesting week all in all. I started my new job at Wal-Mart on Thursday. Checking groceries is definitely not the worst job in the world I have to say. I do like to talk to people and you meet all kinds at your local Wal-Mart. I was going to take a picture of my badge and share my shame, but it's in the car and that is just way to far. The worst part so far was having to sit through all the pro Wal-Mart propaganda during training. yeah yeah, we know you're not building an empire and destroying capitalism, I get it.

Some of you may know that Henry had impitigo on his private parts. ACK! It freaked me out, but we went to the doctor, got some meds and all seemed fine. It was not fine. On Wednesday during his bath I noticed red and yellow dots starting from his noodle and going all the way down to his knee. FRICK! Jesse took him to the doctor and they said it was a staph infection. I was freaking out! I mean, is it going to fall off or something like that? But the doctor wasn't all that worried and gave him some stronger cream. By now they look a ton better and Henry's pretty tired of everybody looking at his business.

I have strep throat. Not cool at all. It seems like I get it about once every year or two. I had to call in sick on my third day of work. How embarassing! To look like a flakey employee at the Wal-Mart! Anyway, I went to the Insta Care today and the doctor's name was, crap you not, Dr. Pepper. Can you believe it! I almost died. I didn't say anything, cause I'm sure he's heard everything in the book. Do you know how hard it was not to start singing, "give me more...of the Dr. Pepper flavor I've been looking for"? It was not fair.

Anyway, the baby is doing pretty well. I think he might be a little sick. My biggest sign is that he has been up crying for the last 2 hours. After 1 hour of the cuddling and pampering I just have to stick him in his basket and say, "I love you, but you are in charge of your own happiness." It's very Zen of me, don't you think?

Can't talk, TV on.

So 6:00 means one thing in our house. It's time for The Simpson's. Here are my three men all engaged in this particular endevor. I absolutely love how much they all look alike in their profiles. It's just Jesse 1,2 and 3 lined up on the couch. Loves it!

I did manage to get their attention, kind of, for a second. Henry really has a hard time saying no to a camera. Freddie loves his big brother. As long as Henry manages to keep a reasonable distance instead of getting all up in Freddie's grill.

Are you CERTAIN that runched isn't a word?

So I owe a big shout out to my personal fashionista, the Amazing Kate. She took me shopping today and made me stretch my wings a bit away from my usual wardrobe choices. I may not have gone as far as she wanted me too, but I still picked out something super nice that I wouldn't have gotten on my own.

I must say that when I tried on my new stuff I looked damn fierce! So thank you Kate, and I think your green sweater is awesome.

P.S. I love the oriental chicken salad from Applebee's.

Nothing

So I have been coming back to my blog every day for the last week and just staring at it. What the crap do I have to say? Nothing that I can think of. Maybe somebody else can help me think of something. Ideas, please!

Weirdness

So just a random post of things that have been happening and freaking me out over the last week.

Freak Out #1: I hate Gardner Village. Sure it's cute, but when there are 5,000 people and your kid is the most obnoxious one there, cute just doesn't seem to cut it.

Freak Out #2: Impetigo. As in a skin infection on my 5 year sons penis. What the HELL!

Freak Out #3: Broken Head. Picture this; two young boys spinning in circles to see how dizzy they can get. One falls into the other and they tumble over like two drunken idiots. The unlucky one bangs his head and gets two stitches. Do you think the lucky one belongs to me? I wish.

Freak Out #4: We just got a package in the mail from my father. It was addressed to my husband and is a really nice socket wrench set. It's not his birthday, there was no note included, just a really nice gift out of the blue with no warning. We're both scratching our heads over that one.

And Finally...
Freak Out #5: Breast Pump.

To Handsome to Handle!

So yesterday my cousin, Kate (so kind, gracious and beautiful), took us over to the frisbee park for a little photo shoot. It was a beautiful fall day and the hippies were more pleasant than usual. After 400 or so pictures I think we ended up with some great shots of the boys. Here are some of my favorites.

Why did I do this?

This is what I have been looking at and listening to for the last 90 minutes or so. I have no idea what is wrong with the poor boy! He's listening to a recording of running water and that helps more that anything, but it just seems to slow him down, not shut him off. Does anybody know who holds the world record for the longest crying jag? Maybe we should start keeping track and get a pool going. If I could earn some money listening to him, it might make it easier. Pray for us both. PLEASE! :o)
I
I included a picture of a quiet 5 seconds. Can you see his poor little tears? It just breaks my heart!
P.S. I found out the camera does work if I turn the flash off. It's better than nothing.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Henry's cousin Andrew joined us this evening for a sleepover. They ate cookies and popcorn and ran around in circles. Generally acted like two 5 year old boys. They wore matching ninja pajamas and insisted they were afraid of the dark. I went to check on them and they just looked so sweet I thought I would share.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

So here is Henry's first school picture. My little kindergartner! I thought I would take a minute and say how much I love this little guy and enjoy being his mother. Nobody has ever made me laugh as hard as he has, or made me as mad. It's been a wild ride for the two of us (and I'm sure it's only going to get wilder), but I have loved every minute of it.

Blast it!

So, Henry broke my camera. The little turkey dropped it in a cup of water and now it's on the fritz. I'm so bummed that I can't take new pictures and put them on my new blog! If anybody has an extra camera laying around let me know and I'll come take it off your hands!

The heir to the throne

Henry just hurt himself while attempting to give himself a high-five. The dorkiness is strong in this one.

Friday, October 17, 2008

Hello blogging world! This isn't anything I thought I'd be doing so be patient with me. I'm excited to be able to share my little world with all of you. My husband Jesse and I aren't really exciting, but our kids are! Henry needs his own TV show rather than me just trying to explain him to other people. Freddie hasn't yet revealed his mystical powers, but we're waiting on pins and needles. He did eat rice cereal for the first time yesterday, does that count?
